Tuesday, April 14, 2026 – The Mountain Brook Schools Board of Education met Monday, April 13 at the Mountain Brook Board of Education for the district’s monthly board meeting. Below is a rundown of the meeting:

Board Members present: Jenifer Kimbrough, Anna Comer, Jeffrey Brewer, and Anne Schilleci.

Board Meeting Agenda

The meeting opened by approving minutes from the last board meeting.

Recognitions:

• Crestline Elementary’s Dr. Lauren Anson was recognized for a recent award from UAB in Exemplary Alumni in Early Childhood Education.
• The MBJH and MBHS All State Band students were recognized. Two students from MBJH and three from MBHS were present!

Reports to the Board:

• Financial Statements and cash balances were presented to the board from Chief School Financial Officer, Kari Austin.
• MBHS Band Director, James Rogers, and MBHS Choir Director, David Mandt, presented the board with a recap of the band and choir’s recent trip to Vienna.

Old Business

• The Social Studies material adoption was approved. 

New Business

• The board unanimously approved the latest personnel recommendations and various items as surplus to be discarded properly.
• The 240-day employee summer schedule was approved.
• The AP Business and Personal Finance materials adoption was tabled one month for community review and input.
• Policy J-7a regarding Optional School Attendance Area was approved to specify and identify home locations within policy parameters.
• Zoning for 3829 White Oak Drive, 35243 was approved to be zoned for Brookwood Forest Elementary.
