MBHS Receives Multiple Distinctions
Mountain Brook High School received “Gold” status from the AP School Honor Roll. This recognizes schools whose AP programs are delivering results for students while broadening access. Schools can earn this recognition annually based on criteria that reflect a commitment to increasing college-going culture, providing opportunities for students to earn college credit, and maximizing college readiness.
MBHS also earned the prestigious titles of Platinum Star School for the 2023-2024 academic year by Working in Support of Education (W!se). These distinctions recognize schools for their students’ exceptional performance on the W!se Financial Literacy Certification Test.
Mountain Brook High School was one of 26 schools nationwide (and the only from the state of Alabama) to receive the Platinum Star distinction.
The Blue Star School award is given to schools where a significant portion of students demonstrate proficiency in personal finance by achieving high passing rates on the Certification Test. Platinum Star Schools represent an even higher level of excellence, with students scoring at the top of the range, reflecting a deeper understanding of financial concepts and skills. Students who pass the Test become Certified Financially Literate™ and earn a W!se CFL™.
The Test is administered as part of W!se’s award-winning Financial Literacy Certification program. Schools enrolled in the program teach a course or unit on personal finance using instructional resources from W!se, including a curriculum outline aligned to national and state standards, and then administer the Test. Since its introduction, the program has become integral to personal finance instruction in thousands of classrooms across the United States and is offered in 49 states.
