Wednesday, November 20, 2024 – The Mountain Brook Schools Board of Education met Monday, November 18 at Crestline Elementary for the district’s monthly board meeting. Below is a rundown of the meeting:

Board members present: Jenifer Kimbrough, Jeffrey Brewer, Nicky Barnes and Daniel Odrezin.

Board Meeting Agenda

The meeting opened by approving minutes from the last board meeting.

Recognitions:

• Senator Dan Roberts for his generous contributions to the school district as well as his representation in the state senate.
• All 6 of the Mountain Brook Schools Teachers of the Year (story coming soon).
• Mountain Brook High School awarded for Financial Literacy.
• Sharon Mumm for receiving the ‘Making A Difference’ award from ALET.

Reports to the Board:

• MBS Chief School Financial Officer, Kari Austin, presented board members with the district’s monthly financial statements, which were unanimously approved.

Old Business

• Policy J-11 - Emergency Drills was unanimously approved.
• The Science Curriculum Framework was unanimously approved.

New Business

• The board unanimously approved the latest personnel recommendations and unanimously approved miscellaneous items as surplus so that they can be discarded/donated/sold.
• The board re-appointed Nicky Barnes to serve as its representative for the 2024 Alabama Association of School Boards at the Delegate Assembly
