Wednesday, January 15, 2025 – The Mountain Brook Schools Board of Education met Monday, January 13 at Mountain Brook Junior High for the district’s monthly board meeting. Below is a rundown of the meeting:

Board Meeting Agenda

The meeting opened by approving minutes from the last board meeting.

Recognitions:

• Barbara Parker (Cherokee Bend Elementary) and Brittany Henegar (Mountain Brook Junior High) were recognized for being named the district representatives for the state’s Teacher of the Year program.
• As a part of Board Member Recognition Month, the PTO presented the Board of Education members with a check.

Reports to the Board:

• MBS Chief School Financial Officer, Kari Austin, presented board members with the district’s monthly financial statements, which were unanimously approved.

• The board unanimously approved the latest personnel recommendations and unanimously approved miscellaneous items as surplus so that they can be discarded/donated/sold.
• The AP Precalculus overview was tabled one month for community review and input.
• The Survey elective was tabled one month for community review and input.
• Bid #2025-001 MBHS Soccer Field Lighting Installation was awarded to Titan Electric Company.
