Mountain Brook City Schools Foundation Launches "Fund Our Future"

The Mountain Brook City Schools Foundation (MBCSF) is proud to launch Fund Our Future: Endowing Student Success—the fourth major gifts campaign in the foundation’s 30+ year history. During the campaign’s early stages, its chairs Mary Catherine Pritchett and Caroline Little and the campaign committee raised $5 million thanks to the incredible generosity of its donors.
This campaign is dedicated to growing the foundation’s endowment to $20 million in the near future—ensuring the ability to grant $1 million* to Mountain Brook Schools annually. This is not just a gift; it’s a long-term investment in excellence, innovation, and opportunity for all Mountain Brook students. The goal now for the community is to contribute at least $500,000 to the campaign by December 2025.
Since 1992, when community leaders came together to form the foundation in response to limited state and federal funding, MBCSF has granted more than $11 million to the Mountain Brook school system. These grants have allowed the schools to dream bigger and do more in education, for education. Transformative programs like the Institute for Innovation, cutting-edge classroom technology, and teacher-led initiatives redefine what’s possible in public education thanks to gifts from the MBCSF.
“State funding fluctuates during economically trying times,” according Superintendent Dr. Dicky Barlow. “But the foundation has been a stable resource to Mountain Brook Schools throughout its 30-year history.”
Mountain Brook educators see the impact every day.
“I will shout from the rooftops how grateful I am for the foundation,” says Mountain Brook High School teacher Morgan Chatham. “To know that they listened to my idea, thought it was valuable, and trusted me to run with it—that is just an incredible indication of support.”
Chatham had a vision to expand her math classroom into an interactive learning space and now all high school math classes feature wall-to-wall white boards to cultivate interactive learning.
Amy Kathryn Gannon, MBHS alum, teacher, and campaign committee member agrees and said “the financial boost the foundation gives our schools allows me to go above and beyond for my students.”
The foundation officially kicked off the campaign’s public phase during the Elementary School Track Meet on April 14th at Mountain Brook High School. Now it’s your turn as a community member of Mountain Brook to be part of something that will benefit every school, every classroom, and every student.
“There is really no better way to invest in my kids’ future than by contributing to the foundation,” said Billy Pritchard IV, a campaign committee member and MBHS alum. “This funding supports students at every level—from elementary to high school—and it’s a gift that keeps giving.”
