Thursday, April 17, 2025 – The Mountain Brook Schools Board of Education met Monday, April 14 at Mountain Brook Board of Education for the district’s monthly board meeting. Below is a rundown of the meeting:

Board Members present: Anna Comer, Jenifer Kimbrough, Daniel Odrezin, Jeffrey Brewer and Nicky Barnes.

Board Meeting Agenda

The meeting opened by approving minutes from the last board meeting.

Recognitions:

• The Mountain Brook Junior High boys and girls tennis teams were recognized for winning the Metro Championship!

Reports to the Board:

• MBS Chief School Financial Officer, Kari Austin, presented board members with the district’s monthly financial statements, which were unanimously approved.
• MBS Facilities Director, Tommy Prewitt, presented board members with the district’s plans for summer renovation projects throughout the district.

Old Business

• The 2026-2027 as well as the 2027-2028 Academic Calendars were unanimously approved.

New Business

• The board unanimously approved the latest personnel recommendations and unanimously approved miscellaneous items as surplus so that they can be discarded/donated/sold.
• The board unanimously approved 240 day employee summer work schedule.
• The board unanimously approved the equipment replacement bid.
• The board unanimously approved renovation projects for this upcoming summer.**
