2 Students Receive National Merit Commendation

Mountain Brook High School seniors Mary Evelyn Kimbrough and James Manasco have been named Commended Students in the 2027 National Merit Scholarship Program.
Commended Students are high-scoring seniors who placed in the top 50,000 nationwide on the PSAT/NMSQT, which they took as juniors. About 34,000 of those students, more than two-thirds of the high scorers, are designated Commended Students based on a nationally applied Selection Index qualifying score that may vary from year to year.
To recognize their outstanding ability and potential for academic success in college, the National Merit Scholarship Corporation (NMSC) is sending Letters of Commendation to these students through their high schools. Commended Students do not continue in the competition for National Merit Scholarships, but some may be candidates for Special Scholarships offered by corporate sponsors. NMSC will notify those candidates in November.
Congratulations to Mary Evelyn and James on this achievement!
